Physician Assistant
Kara L. Gollon, PA-C, MPAS
Kara is a Midwest native with roots in northern Illinois. Growing up she participated in competitive soccer for twelve years which sparked her interest in orthopedics and healthcare for athletes.
She completed her undergraduate degree in Athletic Training from the University of Indianapolis, Indiana. After working as the Head Athletic Trainer at Edgerton High School in Edgerton, Wisconsin, she made the decision to continue her education. Kara then attended Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Carbondale, Illinois where she obtained her Masters Degree in Physician Assistant Studies.
Kara initially started her career in General Orthopedics/Orthopedic Surgery in central Illinois where she evaluated and managed a wide variety of orthopedic complaints. She continued her training in assisting with surgeries such as total joint replacement, joint arthroscopies, and many other pathologies. Kara then spent a few years in the mountains of North Carolina where she specialized in Family Medicine, taking care of patients of all ages to optimize their overall health.
In 2024, her family moved to the Des Moines area to be closer to family and for her husband's career. Kara's strong desire to return to a surgical specialty brought her to the right place and she is thrilled to join the team at East Village Foot & Ankle Surgeons.
In her free time, Kara enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, trying new restaurants and coffee shops, being outside, reading a good book, and going to concerts.
